In my last shopping haul, I had purchased mamaearth onion shampoo, conditioner and hair detangler. I have already reviewed my experience with shampoo and in this article, I will review the mamaearth onion conditioner.
Post hair wash, conditioning is probably the most important and often overlooked step for the majority of people. Washing hair removes the scalp’s natural oil and dries hair by opening cuticles. During conditioning, the cuticles are again laid flat, which makes hair more manageable and easy to comb. It is important to pair a good shampoo with an equally good conditioner to provide the most benefit to hair.
Silicone Free Conditioner Makes Hair Soft & Smooth Detangles Hair
Dermatologically tested. Free from harmful chemicals. Suitable for coloured and treated hair
The conditioner also comes in a white, opaque bottle with a pump nozzle. The front of the bottle contains name and feature ingredients, and product details are published at the back. Similar to the shampoo bottle once opened, the pump in this bottle, too, cannot be closed without causing wastage. The pump nozzle controls the amount of conditioner dispensed. For my short hair, I take around 3-4 nozzled to ensure every strand is covered.
This conditioner contains coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and onion seed oil along with polyquats to detangle and soften the hair.
How to use
The back of the bottle contains the directions to use the product.
3-4 pumps of conditioner is more than enough for my short, parched hair. I spread it from mid-length to the ends, ensuring maximum coverage to get the most benefits. I then take an extra pump and specifically focus on ends as these are the oldest part of hair and require an extra TLC.
My take on mamaearth onion conditioner
I will first share the details and then move on to my experience.
Price: 349 INR but generally available at lower price on Amazon as well as Flipkart
Quantity: 250 ml
Appearance: Creamy white with medium consistency
Fragrance: It has a coconut-y smell. The smell is not overpowering and faints during the day.
Leak-proof: The bottle is not leak-proof since the pump can’t be closed properly
Travel-friendly: The 250ml bottle is value for money but it is too big to keep in a bag while travelling. I would suggest to keep some small quantity in a leak-proof bottle for travel.
My review of mamaearth onion conditioner
The conditioner spreads easily on the hair, and while spreading, it gives silky feeling. I generally wash my hair, apply conditioner, leave it for 2-3 minutes and then rinse it off. It doesn’t take a lot of time or water to rinse the entire product. It rinses easily without leaving any residue or sticky feeling behind.
I have used this conditioner with the shampoo from the same range as well as a different brand, and it worked equally well in both cases. I would say, it was marginally better when coupled with the shampoo from the same range.
The product claims to control hair fall, and in my instance, it was true to an extent. I have observed that I lose some hair while applying conditioner. But I didn’t have any hair fall with this conditioner. Moreover, once dried, my hair was softer and much more manageable.
- Silicone and paraben-free conditioner
- Makes hair smooth
- Detangles hair to a good extent
- The effect stays for almost 3 days
- Controls hair fall
- Refreshing and subtle smell, not at all overbearing on nose
- Easy to wash and does not cause any build-up
- Does not weigh down hair
- Packaging could have been better as it is difficult to close the bottle after opening it
I will recommend this conditioner to people suffering from hair fall, dry hair or just want to explore a gentle product.
This range has worked well for my hair and this conditioner would remain in my hair kit for some time.
